Italian Francesco Banjaja (Ducati) started the race from pole position on Sunday, but Vinjaless was fifth. The Italian could not break away from the followers of Frenchman Juan Zarko (“Pramac”) and teammate Jack Miller from Australia.

World champion Hoan Mirs (“Suzuki Ecstar”) started in tenth place in the first stage.

With seven laps left in the race, Vinjaless took the opportunity and took the lead, but Banjaja was unable to develop at high speed, leaving another competitor, Zarko, ahead of the finish line.

In the last turn of Zarko’s last lap, he was able to develop a higher exit speed, which allowed him to overtake the Ducati pilot by a few tenths of a second.

Vinjaless overtaken Zarko’s closest follower by less than 1.1 seconds, while the Italian lost 1.129 seconds to the leader.

Behind the top three were Mirs, Fabio Quartaro (“Monster Energy Yamaha”) and Alex Rins (“Suzuki Ecstar”).

In the middle of the race, Japanese Takaki Nakagami (“Honda Idemitsu”) dropped unexpectedly in the ninth turn, but Danilo Petruchi (“Tech3 KTM”), who left in the first round, also made his unsuccessful debut.

In the 2020 season, Spanish motorcyclist Hoan Mirs from the Suzuki Ecstar team was crowned world champion.
