The first report was received by the police on Thursday last week. The man in the house, who was away at work, had received a phone call from someone at home that an unauthorized person had entered the home.
– The person in question had a knife, but it was not used to threaten. The person left the place shortly after, and received a larger amount of money, says section chief in Etne and Vindafjord police station, Kari Rørtveit, to Dagbladet.
According to Haugesunds Aviswho first mentioned the case, the perpetrator is said to have received approximately NOK 10,000.
The town, which is located in Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland, has around 1300 inhabitants. The police in Vindafjord have not registered other such incidents in recent times, according to Rørtveit.
No suspects
About 20 minutes after the police received the message, they were on the scene. Then they conducted investigations and secured explanations from several family members.
– We flew with several patrols and dog in the area. We were in early contact with buses, taxis and boats to check if anyone had transported them, without any results. We also checked petrol stations and conducted surveys of neighbors, without this giving us more information, says Rørtveit.
– The police take a case very seriously where fear has been spread. Our goal is for the family and others to experience security. We have still set aside a lot of resources for this and have a hope of finding out what has happened.
Two new events
The day after the robbery, the family was contacted again. The police were notified that two masked people had knocked on the door, and were at the scene shortly after. Rørtveit states that no observations were made by the perpetrators.
– But the police have secured clues in the hope of getting DNA hits, the section chief states.
On Wednesday this week, the family was again visited by two masked people, who are said to have sneaked outside a window.
– The police had a patrol nearby and were quickly on the scene. We did not make any observations of perpetrators. Subsequently, dog searches were carried out with the aim of finding clues, without them yielding results. The police were also in contact with neighbors, the section chief states.
Whether it is the same people who have visited the family the three times is difficult to ascertain, according to Rørtveit.
– Since we do not have any suspects in any of these assignments, it is difficult to speculate whether it is the same person who is behind it.
Want tips
Now they are interested in tips in the case. The perpetrator is described as a man, approximately 170 centimeters tall, with a black jacket and black trousers.
– We take this matter very seriously and have increased patrols in the area.
– Can the family and others living in the area feel safe?
– The police understand that this is perceived as frightening for the family. Our goal is to find out what has happened, and we have an ongoing dialogue with the family, Rørtveit answers.
