A long series of health problems afflicts Vincenzo Mollica. The journalist told, even with a lot of irony and the positivity that has always distinguished him over the years, of suffering from glaucoma, which in recent years has reduced her vision by 95%: “I’ve never seen my left eye, due to a uveitis that hit me as a child, followed by a plastic iridocyclitis”.

He said that at the age of 7-8 he heard his parents say the ophthalmologist “Will go blind”. From there the desire to want to memorize everything that surrounded him, in such a way as to remember everything about the world, once darkness falls.

And for all those who saw him with a tremble in his hands during the evenings in which he was framed on the balcony of the Ariston during the Sanremo 2020 Festival, he clarified with a joke: “That’s the Parkinson’s disease. I do not miss anything. I also have the diabetes. I am a skilled orchestrator of medicines ”.

That was his thirty-ninth and last participation in the Sanremo Festival, since he was retired. For the next Festival, Amadeus has a series of ideas in mind to make the edition unique, starting with the presence of Fiorello.
