sport">Van der Voort shot off the starting blocks like a comet. With an average of 115 points per three arrows, he took the first set 3-0 in legs. Aspinall, number six in the world, stood by and turn to it. The second company also went to Van der Voort with the same figures. After the second break Aspinall managed to recover. The semi-finalist of 2019 started throwing better, Van der Voort dropped slightly in terms of level and therefore the Brit won set number 3 with 3-1 in legs.
sport">Aspinall also seemed to win the fourth set fairly easily, but Van der Voort fought back from a 2-0 deficit in legs. In the final piece, Aspinall turned out to have slightly more scoring ability. He still finished via double 16, making the match completely in balance (2-2 in sets). Both players were very close to each other. Aspinall’s average crept up to 95 and Van der Voort was unable to hold on to the crazy start and now came to a more common score of about 97.
Strong final piece Van der Voort
sport">Van der Voort thought it was enough after two consecutive lost sets. The 45-year-old darter from Purmerend benefited in the second leg, when he was already 1-0, from three misses by Aspinall on double 2. Van der Voort did finish immediately. He then took the set 3-1, which was partly due to Aspinall’s triples barely managed to find. Van der Voort contrasted this with a constant level.
sport">In the future, Van der Voort kept his cool. He immediately took the opening leg from Aspinall in the sixth set. Then he took his own turn with a maximum score of 180. His British opponent was completely lost, as evidenced by his average that dangled around 90 points per three arrows. Aspinall already shook his head.
