Arrived five years ago on tiptoe at US Colomiers Cyclisme, Vincent Bodet, now 18, is preparing to join the DSM, the Dutch road cycling team where since 2021 a certain Romain Bardet.
“During his first mountain bike race at the Challenge de la Lomagne, with a bike and basic equipment, experiencing all possible difficulties to cross the finish line, no one would have bet on him”, recalls Daniel Debliquy, president of the club and coach. Since then, how many paths and roads traveled by the high school student who will pass his baccalaureate in a few days. “It is thanks to my father Jean-Luc, also a cyclist, that I started in Colomiers. I immediately shared the values of the club, transmission, sharing and a family spirit” recounts the young man.
Over time, obstacles and efforts, the teenager progresses “thanks to his mind and his fierce will to perform” continues the strong man columérin. By switching from mountain biking to the road, Vincent feels able to go higher, further. The path is therefore clear. “I aspire to become a professional, to participate in major races or even to win them”, he confides, while acknowledging the sacrifices that his relatives have been able to make in his evolution to join the DSM team. and its development subsidiary reserved for young hopefuls. “It’s a new stage for me, the opportunity to share training with renowned runners and to participate in major competitions during the year”. With a two-year contract, this opportunity can serve as a springboard before moving into the big leagues.
A meteoric rise
“Quietly, moved by an inner strength and an exceptional physique, Vincent never ceased to amaze us and command everyone’s respect. Joined the Haute-Garonne mountain bike team as a cadet, then Team Jolly Cycle Specialized U19 on the way, continuing to train in Colomiers where he was able to gain self-confidence, this three-way partnership allowed him to progress to the top level and accumulate many titles” concludes Daniel Debliquy. A role model for generations to come.
