Vinales’ story from when the brakes failed to decide to jump from the motorbike page all

SPIELBERG, KOMPAS.com – Monster Energy Yamaha racers, Maverick Vinales, failed to finish the race MotoGP Styria after his Yamaha M1 motorbike experienced a failed brake and caught fire.

According to Maverick Vinales, a non-functioning motorbike brake, aka failed, was the culprit of the incident.

MotoGP Styria is the fifth series of the World Championship this season which takes place at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Sunday (23/8/2020) evening WIB.

The unfortunate incident experienced by Maverick Vinales occurred on lap 17.

Vinales was driving his motorcycle at a speed of more than 230 kilometers per hour.

Towards turn 1, Vinales suddenly lost control and the camera caught him jumping from his motorcycle.

Vinales, who had fallen, managed to save himself by letting his body roll off the track.

However, Vinales’ motorbike did not survive. Vinales’ YZR-M1 went fast without a driver and hit the air wall on the left side of Turn 1.

Not long after crashing, Vinales’ motorbike caught fire immediately and the Styria MotoGP race was temporarily suspended.

After the race, Vinales considered his decision to jump from the motorbike as the most appropriate action when the brakes were not functioning normally.

“I was busy adjusting the brake lever at every corner. The brake grip was unstable throughout the race,” Vinales was quoted as saying from the Speedweek website.

“However, suddenly the brakes didn’t work just before Turn 1. I couldn’t possibly do anything else,” said Vinales.

“The motorbike is no longer possible to stop. What can I do? I choose to jump,” said Vinales.

“I could not possibly stay on the bike at that time. The brakes were really broken at that time. So I decided to jump,” added Vinales.

The Vinales motorbike actually looks problematic after crossing Turn 5 on lap 12.

This was seen when Vinales sent a sign by waving his hand.

Even though he already knew that his motorbike had a problem on lap 12, Vinales chose to continue racing until he finally had to accept the fate of failing to finish.

“I’ve never experienced anything like that (brakes not working) in my career in MotoGP,” said Vinales.

“I only experienced it here. I should have stopped racing after knowing the bike has a problem. However, I did not do that,” said Vinales.

“I just want to finish the race, even just to get one point. I always want to give my best. That’s why I ended up being eliminated,” said Vinales.

Failure to finish in the Styria MotoGP made Vinales fourth of the top three riders’ standings.

Vinales with a collection of 48 points is now in fifth place in the standings.

The top position is still occupied by Petronas Yamaha SRT racer, Fabio Quartararo, with 70 points.
