It was a small menu at the table of the municipal council of Vimoutiers, Wednesday June 30, 2021, at the Armontel room, before approaching the summer truce. “In the sanitation chapter, work should be carried out to modify the sludge treatment system at the wastewater treatment plant, to allow spreading according to the regulations in force in the context of Covid-19. This work would entail an additional operating expenditure of € 30,000 for the hygienization of this sludge by injection of milk of lime. » , explains Philippe Touchain, the deputy mayor responsible for finance.
Two options were emerging for the municipality: either to use a mobile station to carry out the operation of the treatment of this sludge (cost € 132,000) or to transform the silos to allow the treatment of sludge, a sustainable solution in time.
This second option was chosen, requiring an investment of € 41,000 to ensure the work necessary for the transformation of the silos and an operating cost of € 43,000 to ensure the sanitation of the sludge.
A shared solution?
“Could this equipment be the subject of services on behalf of third parties, questions Sébastien Gourdel, adviser to the minority. I am thinking in particular of other municipalities that have station sludge. “
“We authorized authorized people to come and deposit sludge at our place”, answers Philippe Touchain. “These are contracts with approved service providers who empty the septic tanks. The sanitation of the sludge allows us to have a spreading plan for the farmers ”, adds Guy Romain, the mayor. “Would there be another choice that would allow to have a solution shared with several municipalities”, questions Sébastien Gourdel. “It’s quite complicated”, underlines Guy Romain.
