PADUA Seven months after revocation of the appointment to Professor Pier Paolo Pandolfi, accused of “lack of transparency” for hiding the story of employee against a researcher at Harvard’s Beth Israel Cancer Center, Vimm is officially looking for a Scientific director. The international call takes place: the candidate ideal will be a world-renowned figure in biomedical research with a solid personal experience of publications and scientific results, and will be personally involved in the activity of Research, as well as representing Vimm for internal and external partnerships.

The content of the announcement was approved by the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Advanced Biomedical Research, which met yesterday under the chairmanship of Professor Francesco Pagano. The new scientific director, whose choice will be completed within the month of March, will be called to define the strategic vision for the growth of basic and translational research and to supervise its implementation at the 20 research groups present in the laboratories of via Orus in the various areas of medicine, including neuroscience, oncology, biomedicine, mitochondrial metabolism and muscle biology.
“The choice of the new scientific director, which coincides with the celebration of the first 25 years of activity of our Institute, will project Vimm into an increasingly important international dimension – declares Professor Pagano – We are sure that we will be able to choose a candidate able to satisfy our ambitions and to contribute substantially to consolidating and developing research activities of excellence ». The new figure, who will succeed the pro tempore scientific director Gianpietro Semenzato in the position, will also have to have the skills of managing the scientific and administrative aspects of a multidisciplinary research company, acquired within a clinical or research center.
THE CHOICE
The applications received will be screened and examined by an external and independent selection board which will then send them to the Board of Directors of the Foundation for evaluation and final decision.
