Sisters, by Julie Desprairies, is a unique show, between choreographic art and urban reflection. It takes place until Sunday, in the Buers district, in Villeurbanne.
She first studied theater and visual arts before creating the company that bears her name in Lyon. But Julie Desprairies never wanted to stage texts, rather bodies and places, and especially bodies in the middle of places, in situation. Not for yet another street happening, but for choreographic projects playing with the buildings, the history and the daily life of a district, bringing it imagination and poetry.
That’s what she tries to do with it sisters, a unique show for the 30th anniversary of the dance-studies section of Insa, the school of dancing engineers, with whom she has worked since 2007. With sets, yes, but natural sets: to invade this district in full rehabilitation, it will take over gardens, windows, cafes or nurseries in a carefully elaborated choreography that brings to life the whole life of the neighborhood. A life-size, documentary and poetic dialogue. The most unique show of the month, and what’s more, it’s free.
