For some time now, these makeshift housing had grown. More than 50 people lived there in a slum-like squat. A few steps from the performance hall of Transbordeur, in Villeurbanne (Rhône), the State services intervened to evacuate it.
It was in this squat that an 11-year-old child recently died after swallowing drugs.
This morning, the police evacuated the squat located near the Transbordeur in #villeurbanne.

51 people evacuated
In total, 51 people were evacuated from this squat. The vast majority were taken in charge by social services to be sheltered through accommodation solutions. The operation also led to the arrest of four more people because of their ” situation administrative »Specifies the prefecture.
According to our colleagues from Lyon Capital, the prefecture specified that the operation had already been planned for some time: the evacuees had been warned that they should vacate the premises. Everything went without issue, and the operation is a good example of the complementarity of communities and services since the Prefecture of the Rhône, the city of Villeurbanne, the Metropolis and social workers have worked together.
