Villeurbanne: pedestrian cameras for the municipal police

The town of Villeurbanne has just acquired “pedestrian” cameras intended for municipal police officers.

Worn in an apparent manner, these cameras have a screen that faces the interlocutors of the municipal police officer. When the camera is activated, the screen will light up and show live what is being recorded.

In the event of an incident during an intervention, the images will make it possible to objectify the facts related to the behavior of citizens as well as to those of agents. The device also improves the collection of evidence.

Audiovisual recordings, apart from their use in judicial, administrative or disciplinary proceedings, will be transferred to a server and automatically deleted after six months.

The device has been declared in order to guarantee its compliance with the general data protection regulations.

“The equipment in pedestrian cameras of the municipal police amounts to 10,488 euros supported by the City” specifies the municipality.
