“The Primary Care Team Project (PST) started a few months ago. The goal of its members is now to create a multi-professional health center (MSP). And this to attract young doctors as has been done, for example, in Longuyon or Audun-le-Roman,” says Véronique Guillotin, Senator for Meurthe-et-Moselle.
Currently, the ESP includes two general practitioners, two nurses and two pharmacists. Its purpose is to coordinate care. And the needs in terms of health will increase in a sector called to develop demographically with the European grouping of territorial cooperation Alzette-Belval. This project would make it possible to meet demand in Villerupt, but also in Audun-le-Tiche, Thil and Tiercelet.

Short term problems
“The goal is to have a building that accommodates doctors, paramedics and pharmacists, given the problems to come in the short term in the supply of care. The group is formed and determined on this project. And we are ahead of schedule,” argues Doctor Rachid Berri.
“The goal would be to be on the Villerupt-Thil axis. This would help patients get treatment on the spot. And then, this kind of structure avoids the desertification of the city center. The Regional Health Agency and the community of communes of Pays-Haut Val d’Alzette are aware and support us, ”adds Véronique Guillotin.

Elderly GPs
A meeting will soon be organized to inform the medical and paramedical world of this project. The MSP would be done with caregivers from the sector in premises that meet standards. “This structure would make it possible to accommodate specialists for regular visits,” emphasizes Rachid Berri.
Currently, in Villerupt, six general practitioners are installed but only one is under 60 years old. And two are or will be of retirement age. In Audun-le-Tiche, there are three, two of whom are of retirement age. There are no more in Thil and, in Tiercelet, two retirees provide consultations.
This project would be carried out in conjunction with the hospitals of Mont-Saint-Martin and Thionville.
