Villereal. Between Art and History: A magical Summer’s Eve in the Bastide

In the third favorite city of the French, this Thursday, August 1, the “Summer Night”, organized by the regional council of Lot-et-Garonne, in partnership with the Festival des Arts de la Rue de Miramont-de-Guyenne with the cooperation of the town, merchants, associations and volunteers was very successful.

Back to this summer night!

From 4:30pm, the Bastide was busy! Adeline Morel, responsible for tourism development at the Tourist Office and tour guide, accompanied groups for unannounced visits to the Bastide together with Isabelle Taudière, town councillor. The visitors were very happy.

A visit went to the house of Roger Bissière, born in 1886, a great painter of the 20th century, a peasant painter. Bissière’s influence on French painting is unanimous. Bissière said: “Perfection is inhuman.

Around 7pm, the gathering of happy braggarts: The Bug Toupiti Band entered the Bastide. Foodies and associations were “stormed” before the street art exhibition by the company Tout en Vrac which offered “la Cuisinière”, a cooking meat between two chefs! Charlotte Meurisse, director, presented “The Cook” which is a duel, a woman and her working tool.

The public was there. The mayor, Jean-Jacques Caminade, received elected officials including Christine Gonzato-Roques, regional councilor as well as Marcel Calmette, Auguste Florio of the CCBHAP, Bruno Da Silva, director of the Tourism Office and many others.

It was a beautiful summer night in the Bastide, so loved by the French but it was not easy for the volunteers. Good luck to them.
