Villejuif: the vaccinobus will continue, now funded by the State

The vaccinobus set up in Villejuif since last June was until now fully supported entirely by the municipality. The Ile-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS IDF) has decided to put the pot to the sustainability because it is in the duration of stable appointments that this device is effective.

After retirement homes and colleges, the Villejuif vaccine bus is now landing on university campuses. At the start of the week, health professionals and administrative agents moved into the premises of Efrei Paris, a digital engineering school with 3,500 students for a half-day of vaccination campaign. Success was met with 280 young people vaccinated, some for the first time, others receiving a booster. New actions are planned for the start of the school year. At the same time, this mobile vaccination service is continuing its permanence for the general public on three sites: the Anne Sylvestre cultural hostel, the Colette Besson sports hall and the downtown youth branch.

“We are maintaining our efforts because this device has shown its effectiveness, motivates PCF mayor Pierre Garzon. Villejuif went from a very low to average vaccination rate. This initiative was welcomed in particular by the prefect of Val-de-Marne. That said, until now, it is our citizens who have borne the financial burden. However, it is the State which is competent in matters of health and which must bear the costs ”, believes the elected official. The state’s boost, through the Regional Health Agency, is therefore timely.

A deliberation to authorize the mayor to sign the convention was voted unanimously by the city council on Wednesday evening. “Between June 9 and September 25, teams made up of Rouquès health professionals and administrative agents carried out 7,000 vaccinations. In four months, the vaccinobus cost us the sum of 191,000 euros in personnel and service costs. The negotiations relate to the full coverage of these expenses which will continue at the end of the year with a capacity of 1,100 weekly vaccinations, with or without an appointment ” detailed Dalila Bakour, city councilor responsible for health and prevention.

Opposition adviser Fadma Ouchard, for her part, criticized the late implementation of the device. “Seniors had to get vaccinated in L’Haÿ-les-Roses and in Paris. It’s a shame not to have done it sooner. For its financing, you forget to say that you will be able to claim the Rosp (remuneration on public health objectives) which should allow you to touch an amount equivalent to the subsidy ”.

“Ms. Ouchard, the healthcare professional that you are, is aware that for lack of sufficient doses, at the start of the crisis, the ARS opened a limited number of centers. To say that the municipality has waited too long is laughable ”, retorted the municipal councilor of the majority Maxime Plusquellec.
