No truce in the political balance of power in Villejuif. In the midst of a health crisis, the opponents of Mayor Franck Le Bohellec (ex-LR) would appreciate being informed of the means deployed by the city to deal with this exceptional situation. This is what they told him this Wednesday, at the bend of a duplicate mail in prefecture and sub-prefecture.
Twenty elected officials * – members of the opposition but not only – therefore sign a formal notice: they ask for “the assembly of the assembly” by a means which, according to the law they say, will allow them to obtain success “within six days”.
No advice for four months
A request all the more pressing since the municipal council has not met since the stormy session of November 26, during which the municipal opposition was in fact … majority in number of votes.
The ballot boxes have spoken since. With the support of Libres !, it was the outgoing mayor who took the lead (42.95%) in the first round of the local elections on March 15. The results announced a duel in the second round with the communist Pierre Garzon (26.29%), at the head this time of a broad list of union of the left.
A session outside the walls
“For almost five months, the letter reminds, the elected officials of the deliberative assembly of Villejuif no longer benefit from any information regarding the conduct of our city. Now the twenty brandished the ordinance of April 1 last “aimed at ensuring the continuity of the functioning of local institutions”. It clearly states, note the signatories, that the sessions can “be held in a dematerialized manner” to avoid promiscuity and, thus, the possible spread of Covid-19.
Beyond this convocation, the twenty claim several “points” on the agenda. In particular the “list of decisions taken” since the fall, information on the mobilization of municipal services in the face of the current health crisis, therefore, but also the allocation of “exceptional subsidies to associations of solidarity and social aid”. And then a “dot on the next school map”.
The “technical modalities” under study
“Like many communities, faced with the prospect of an extension of confinement, we have already been working for several days on the technical possibilities of making a municipal council from a distance,” answers the cabinet of Franck Le Bohellec. It will therefore take place soon according to the technical modalities that the municipal administration will manage to implement. “
As for the agenda, “the requests that fall under the communication of the mayor’s decisions […] are legitimate, on the other hand, requests for communication on the rest have no regulatory basis, ”said the town hall. But “the mayor will of course provide information on all the measures he has put in place in the context of the health crisis. And the entourage of Franck Le Bohellec to hope for “a republican unity” in this delicate period.
