Isabel Perón was elected vice president in 1973 on the ticket of her husband, Juan Domingo Perón, whom she succeeded after his death in 1974. In 1976 she was overthrown by General Rafael Videla, who imposed a dictatorship.
In the photos, both of them are seen relaxed in an informal meeting, in which they pose with personal gifts from “Isabelita” and hold hands.
“On a day like today, where loyalty is talked about, I want to vindicate his figure,” Villarruel highlighted, in a publication that could be read as a signal to a sector of Peronism that wants to bring closer positions with the head of the Senate.
Villarruel has just completed a tour of Europe that took her last Monday to meet at the Vatican with Pope Francis, who encouraged her “not to let up.”
