Villarreal’s Unai Emery gives the finger to the supporters

Unai Emery had a difficult time at Arsenal where, in addition to some heavy results, he was also mocked for his English pronunciation. On Saturday, Villarreal were in Southampton for a match at St. Marys Stadium against Southampton FC.

In connection with the match, which ended with an odd-goal victory for his Villarreal, he met English fans at the players’ bus and signed autographs. Then he heard a well-known phrase, which he coined himself.

The Arsenal taunt was met with the middle finger

“Good ebening” (Good evening), it used to sound when Unai Emery sat at the podium for press conferences as manager of Arsenal. Those very words were uttered, followed by “I think you did very well at Arsenal”.

Then Unai Emery pulled on a big grin before pointing his middle finger at the camera and the jeering supporters.

The move was caught on film and spread like wildfire on social media, including via Twitter.

Southampton’s return to the Premier League season ended 1-2 after Unai Emery’s Champions League semi-finalists from last year scored a goal in both halves.
