Villarreal Maintains the Trend of Spanish Coaches with José “Pacheta” as the Sixteenth

Vila-real (Castellón), Sep 10 (EFE).- José Rojo “Pacheta” has become Villarreal’s sixteenth coach in the top category, maintaining with his arrival the clear trend of the Castellón club of having national coaches in its dock.

Of the sixteen coaches who have sat on Villarreal’s first bench, only one of them is not Spanish. This was the case of Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini, who led the team from the 2004 to 2009 seasons, in one of the most successful stages of the entity.

The other fifteen coaches are all Spanish: Jose Antonio, Irulegui, Francisco García Gómez “Paquito”, Víctor Muñoz, Benito Floro, Juan Carlos Garrido, Ernesto Valverde, Jose Francisco Molina, Miguel Angel Lotina, Marcelino García Toral, Fran Escribá, Javi Calleja , Luis García, Unai Emery and Quique Setién.

The yellow club has decidedly opted for Spanish coaches who knew well the category in which the team played or, failing that, for in-house technicians who were promoted.
