PORT-GENTIL, October 24, 2024 (AGP) – As part of the free breast and cervical cancer screening campaign, Maurel & Prom Gabon recently officially opened the “Pink Village” at the Port-Gentil town fair , in the region of Ogooué -Maritime (West), noted the AGP.
This event, which will take place until October 26, aims to reach more than 1,000 women in the Ogooué-Maritime region.
Organized by Maurel & Prom Gabon, with the support of local authorities, “The Pink Village” provides screening boxes, as well as a psychological framework for patients who are likely to receive a positive diagnosis.
At the inauguration, Myriam Agamboue Baeta, Director of Hygiene, Health and Safety at Maurel & Prom Gabon, emphasized the importance of this initiative.
« As we mentioned, we have reopened the Village Rose to welcome women, and even men. So the women who have been screened will be able to go to the regional hospital of Ntchengué for an advanced diagnosis, thanks to the mammograph that we have just given them. “, she said.
The goal is clear: raise awareness and early detection to reduce the impact of female cancers.
« Last year we reached over 600 women. This year, we are aiming for 1,000 women, because the earlier we screen, the more likely we are to save a life. », added Myriam Agamboue epse Baeta.
Among the first beneficiaries, Florence Andeme Yenot who took the opportunity to do her screening, said she was satisfied: ” The screening framework built at Village Rose makes you want to know your status. Thank God my diagnosis is negative, and I will do this screening again in two years. »
Le Village Rose continues to promote the importance of early detection, a simple action that can save lives.
