Village Head in West Aceh Dies During Indonesian Independence Day Commemoration Ceremony

Jakarta

A village head in Sungai Mas District, West Aceh named Ansari (50) died while participating in a commemoration ceremony for the 78th Indonesian Independence Day. Ansari died while sitting in the front seat at the Gleng Village Square.

“It’s true, a village head in our sub-district died during the seconds when the Red and White Flag was raised,” said Sungai Mas sub-district head, Zulkifli, reported by Antara, Thursday (17/8/2023).

Ansari is the village head or keuchik in Gleng Village, Sungai Mas District. Zulkifli said that the deceased died sitting in a chair and wearing white official clothes.

Zulkifli conveyed that Ansari breathed his last when he was about to stand up to respect the flag-raising carried out by the Red and White Flag raising officers.

Seeing the condition of the deceased who was sitting unconscious, a number of other fellow village heads were shocked and called a doctor to do an examination. After that, the victim was declared dead.

“We really miss the figure of the deceased,” he said.

The victim’s family, who knew that Ansari had died, asked that the body be brought back to the funeral home and were not willing to be taken to the puskesmas for an autopsy.

Before he died, continued Zulkifli, Ansari did not complain of illness and looked very cheerful because the commemoration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day at the sub-district level this year was being held in his village.
