Villa Olímpica Cinema celebrates its 5th anniversary as a cultural space | At the moment

MEXICO CITY.— With a conference that includes screenings and discussions with a gender perspective, as well as an expo-sale of local artisan products, the Villa Olímpica Cinema will celebrate its 5th anniversary this Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29 as a venue that has the objective of providing a cultural space for artists and creators of the seventh art, in addition to promoting and promoting Mexican cinema.

This Saturday August 28th, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., a expoventa open to the general public, with handmade products premises in the International Hall of the Villa Olímpica Sports Unit; On Sunday 29, at the same time, a program designed by the Trust for the Promotion and Development of Mexican Cinema will be shown in Mexico City (Procine).

⇒ This schedule will include screenings with a gender perspective and discussions with the directors of films and short films. In addition, there will be discussion tables to make women’s rights visible and highlight gender violence, as well as a special function with film Emma.

The Ceremony to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Villa Olímpica Cinema will be held on Sunday 29, at 12:00 hours, with the participation of the Secretary of Culture of Mexico City, Vannesa Bohórquez; the Secretary of the Capital Women, Ingrid Gómez Saracíbar; the mayor of Tlalpan, Patricia Aceves; and ombudsperson from the capital, Nashieli Ramírez.

The Cinema Villa Olímpica reopened in 2016, thanks to the impulse of Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of Government, then delegate in Tlalpan. The space, built in 1968, within the framework of the Olympic Games that year in Mexico, had been used for almost two decades as a multipurpose auditorium and by a religious congregation.
