For the residents of the San Antonio neighborhood, in Villa Mercedes, Sunday ended in upheaval. During the early hours of the night, the corner of Güemes and Potosí streets in that neighborhood was the scene of the murder of a young man, who died of a gunshot to the head.
Police sources indicated that they received an alert after 7:00 p.m. that a person was lying on the public highway with a bullet wound to the skull, identified as Rolando Daniel Gatica, 21 years old.
In addition, they said that prior to the execution, the victim was gathered together with his brothers and cousins on the sidewalk of the house where he lives. While they shared some alcoholic beverages, another group made up of three people passed by, who would also be residents of the San Antonio neighborhood and with whom there would have been a previous enmity. After an exchange of words, one of those passing by fired at least one shot with a firearm, which ended up being lethal to Gatica.
According to reports, the investigators had already identified the aggressors, while the people who were with the murdered young man were taken to take their statements.
The police source consulted revealed that the two brothers of the deceased, plus another involved, are in the process of being prosecuted for the murder of Juan Carlos Villegas. The man was stabbed during the night of April 22, 2020 in the ranch where he worked, located in Lavaisse.
