This is how the Villa de Leyva International Film Festival 2023 unfolds, being in full swing and highlighting the latest trends and cinematographic identities from around the world. This event not only resists and surprises, but also consolidates a unique seal of quality that redefines cinematographic narrative.
With more than 150 films on display, the festival invites us to immerse ourselves in stories that challenge, question and, ultimately, transform. We are faced with an eclectic and diverse selection that covers categories such as: Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental Film and Family Film.
The screenings take place in open-air settings and unconventional spaces in Villa de Leyva. Each film is carefully selected, many of them screened for the first time in Colombia and coming from various countries. Among them are France, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, the United States, Chile, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Latvia, Holland, Israel, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Russia and, of course, Colombia.
Within the framework of this event, on Saturday at 2:00 pm, in the Plaza Mayor, the ‘Rebel Nation’ discussion took place, presenting the audiovisual project of Signal Colombia, winner of three India Catalina awards. This space was attended by Augusto Martelo Martínez, a fervent devotee of rock.
In addition, Philippe van Hissenhoven, director of the festival, extends a cordial invitation to enjoy with your family and get closer to the visual arts. Likewise, it highlights the well-deserved tribute that the festival pays to Jorge Alí Triana, exploring his career and his creative process through an audiovisual tour and spaces for dialogue.
