Tonny Vilhena is looking forward to The Classic between Ajax and Feyenoord. As a child of Varkenoord, the midfielder regularly played in the ArenA. In Amsterdam in particular, the results were not always positive.
”While we often played very good matches there”, Vilhena says in conversation with The Telegraph† “If Feyenoord would have played in De Kuip right now, I would say they would have won. With its own audience, Ajax now wants to set something straight after last week. The determination that comes with a Classic has to be there to get results there.”
Ajax was eliminated in Europe last week and that hurts. “I don’t believe that the elimination from the Champions League will continue as a blow. Ajax has too many experienced players who have already experienced all of this and the experience of a Classic stands on its own. Feyenoord must be prepared for that. To be aware of what makes a profit in Rotterdam and what pleasure they also give themselves in the competition. Fighting for something special. That’s how we always went when I was still playing there.”
