The program of the fourth round of the Fortuna League concluded on Sunday evening with the match between České Budějovice and Pilsen. After Thursday’s big win over Malta’s Gżira, Viktoria once again played the role of favorite and won the seven-goal match. Twenty-two-year-old Pavel Šulc scored a hat trick.
Already in the eighth minute, one of the most spectacular goals of the current league season could be seen on Strělecký ostrov. After a faulty pass by Martin Janáček, the ball reached Ibrahim Traoré, who promptly lobbed the České Budějovice goalkeeper from a distance of forty meters.
Two minutes later, Janáček scored for the second time. After Cadu’s cross from the left side, Durosinmi passed to Pavel Šulc in the box, who scored into the net of his former club. The situation was then examined by VAR for a while, but there was no offense against the rules.
Although the South Bohemians gradually leveled the game, they were unable to create chances. In the 35th minute, the visitors wanted a penalty kick after a tackle on Durosinmi. Chief referee Stanislav Volek did not order it after consulting with the video assistant.
At the opposite end of the field, a penalty was kicked in the set time, because Pilsen’s captain Hejda played with his hand. Jakub Hora was subsequently successful and just before going to the locker room reduced the score to 1:2.
However, such a score did not last long. Pilsen had a good start to the second half, soon after the start of the half, Pavel Bucha made a breakthrough with a ground shot. Jan Kopic scored the assist.
In the 53rd minute, Šulc’s action brought another great shooting opportunity for the team from the west of Bohemia. Janáček, however, intervened against Kopic’s finish this time.
A quarter of an hour later, thanks to a successful pass from Čmelík and his run, Dynamo striker Adediran found himself alone in front of goalkeeper Jindřich Staňek. But he aimed the shot from the first three posts. Even Rafia Durosinmi from Pilsen did not hit the goal from the subsequent attack.
In the 72nd minute, it already worked out for Koubek’s wards. Bucha accurately crossed from the right from a standard situation and Šulc, who scored for the second time in the match, increased the visitors’ lead with a header. Two minutes later, however, the score changed again.
Jakub Hora also stood up to perform a direct free kick and thus contributed to the reduction to 2:4. After the pass of the thirty-two-year-old midfielder, the ball bounced to Pavlo Osmančík, who cleared it into the opponent’s goal.
The visiting team had the last word. At the end of regular time, the referee whistled for a penalty due to Quadri Adedirano’s hand in the wall. Pavel Šulc used the opportunity to complete a hat trick and set the final result at 2:5.
Plzeň is currently in fourth place in the Fortuna league table with seven points. České Budějovice without a point gain and with a very negative total score of 5:17 close the entire standings. After the rematch of the third preliminary round of the European Conference League in Malta, Viktoria will face Olomouc, Dynamo will face Bohemians in the next round.
