Viktoria Köln: Rettig becomes managing director – “No more compromises”

Active as a professional in the 80s

After more than a year and a half without a club, Andreas Rettig has found a role in professional football again and will take over as chairman of the management team at Viktoria Köln from the coming season. As the third division team officially known on Sunday. the collaboration is initially set to run for four years.

“Andreas Rettig was a player at Viktoria from 1986 to 1988. He has been an honorary member of the association since 2012 and, for example, promoted our junior division. His competence in football is undisputed. His experience and expertise will help us a lot. It is a huge asset for Viktoria ”, emphasized President Günter Pütz.

Rettig had worked for SC Freiburg, 1.FC Köln, FC Augsburg and most recently FC St. Pauli between 1998 and 2019, and from 2013 to 2015 he was managing director of the DFL. The 58-year-old named the location as one of the reasons for his new commitment. “My wife and I didn’t want to move anymore. In addition, I don’t want to make any compromises in the last third of my professional life. I want to surround myself with people with whom I work with confidence and with pleasure. And that’s the feeling I have here. I’m also interested in the perspective of the club that I played for myself in the 1980s. I also find the freedom of design that I want here, ”says Rettig.
