Viktor Axelsen Withdraws From Indonesia Masters 2023

Jakarta, CNNIndonesia

World number one men’s singles player Viktor Axelsen make sure not to appear in the event Indonesia Masters 2023 which will take place at the end of January.

Axelsen, who had previously been registered as the seed at the Super 500 level tournament, suddenly withdrew from the 2023 Indonesia Masters.

The announcement of Axelsen’s resignation was published on a social media account on Sunday (22/1) evening.

“Hi everyone. Unfortunately I won’t be going to Indonesia next week. I can’t wait to play at Istora in front of the amazing badminton fans as usual, but my body isn’t ready for another week of competition.”

“Hope to see you soon and thank you for your support,” wrote Axelsen.

The player from Denmark also included an emoji in the form of an Indonesian flag and a heart in his closing message.

The Indonesia Masters 2023 is the third series of the BWF World Tour 2023 agenda earlier this year after the Malaysia Open and India Open.

Axelsen emerged as the champion of the 2023 Malaysia Open and was the runner up of the 2023 India Open.

This is not the first time Axelsen has withdrawn from organizing a badminton championship. Last year Axelsen withdrew from the Thailand Open and Swiss Open after playing in the first round of the two championships.\

The Indonesia Masters 2023 will take place from Tuesday (24/1) to Sunday (29/1) at Istora Senayan Jakarta.
