Tokyo –
Viktor Axelsen came out as the new champion of men’s singles badminton Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He defeated Chen Long of China in two games and won the gold medal.
The Danish badminton won 21-15 and 21-12. Axelsen managed to appear dominant throughout the game over Chen Long, Monday (2/8/2021).
Since the first game, the signs of Axelsen will be visible. He managed to step on the gas since the game started. The first game interval also belonged to Axelsen with an 11-9 advantage over the defending champion.
Sharp smashes of tall badminton became Axelsen’s main weapon. He also easily closed the first game with a 21-15 advantage.
In the second gym the situation has not changed much. Viktor Axelsen managed to maintain its dominance and closed the second game interval with an 11-7 advantage.
Chen Long continued to appear under pressure and play defensively until it was difficult to return Axelsen’s shots. Chen Long even contributed points for his opponent several times because his punches hit the net or left the field.
Axelsen has the upper hand thanks to a 19-11 advantage. Chen Long actually started the fight by reducing the position to 19-12 after submitting the challenge.
But Axelsen was unstoppable by closing the second game with a blow that Chen Long couldn’t return. He closed the second game with 21-12.
Axelsen becomes the new champion in men’s singles badminton Olympic. Chen Long failed to gain gold again as he did at the 2016 Rio Olympics yesterday.
