Vikings Drop Dual At Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland State men’s tennis team dropped its final match of the weekend, 7-0, to the University of Portland on Sunday.

The Vikings fell to 2-4 while the Pilots improved to 1-4.

UP jumped on top early, sweeping the Vikings in doubles action to begin the day. Nils Plutat and Oliver Richards gave the Vikings their best chance at a doubles win, falling 7-6 (4) to Nikolas Tvedt and Julien Penzlin.

Portland earned the sweep with six-straight wins in singles play. Tommy Hsu and Richards highlighted the Vikings in the second portion of the match. Looking for his third consecutive win at No. 2, Hsu pushed Penzlin to the limit falling 2-6, 6-7 (4), while Richards found himself in a similar position on court three, dropping his match 5-7, 6-7 (3).

Portland State will return to action in its Big Sky opener against Montana next Sunday (Feb. 27).
