Viking survival game Valheim breaks the barrier of 500,000 simultaneous players – Gaming – News

I really don’t understand what’s so exciting about it. There are so many survival games, what does Valheim offer that eg Ark does not?

Valheim is not doing anything new, but what it is doing is doing well. For example, what it does better than Ark is that it can run smoothly at all. Furthermore, the focus is primarily on PvE, with a gravel that doesn’t feel like gravel.

I also find the graphics disturbing, because it is not really artistic (as you could say with Minecraft), they are just low resolution textures.

Whether something is artistic is an opinion or not. ‘They are just low resolution textures’ says nothing without how the textures are used remotely, the lighting system, the atmosphere that has been cast in the world, … Furthermore, the low textures do not really disturb, because what is used is actually beautiful. Oh yes, another difference with Ark: Valheim is less than 1 GB in size.

I see a lot of hype around a game that is not that special at all, and I kind of miss why that hype is there.

If you have not played the game and you do not read in the many comments (including on Reddit), you will never know.
