VIII Vaccine Update Conference in Seville: National Experts Gathered for Prevention and Immunization

Seville will host the VIII Vaccine Update Conference organized by the IHP Group on June 23 and 24. One of the most prestigious annual events at the national level in terms of prevention and immunization that will be held at the Global Omnium Auditorium, located in the Las Delicias Pier and which will bring together the leading national experts in the field of vaccines.

“For the IHP Group, research, training and dissemination of the culture of vaccination are essential”, said Dr. Alfonso Carmona Martínez, medical director and founder of the Andalusian pediatric group, who stressed that this congress contributes to making visible and advancing in these three areas. “The quality of the talks, the prestige of the speakers and the interest of the attendees make these conferences possible every year”, he pointed out.



After the success of the last edition, the VIII IHP 2023 Vaccine Update Conference is once again the venue and will take place in two sessions. “On this occasion, they will only be held in person and they propose novelties that will give the event greater dynamism,” explains Dr. Ignacio Salamanca de la Cueva, coordinator of the IHP Group Research Unit.

The program

The program will start on the afternoon of Friday, the 23rd, with a presentation on vaccination calendars, by David Moreno Pérez, director of the Andalusian Strategic Vaccination Plan; Francisco Álvarez García, coordinator of the Vaccine Advisory Committee of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics (CAV-AEP); and Ignacio Salamanca de la Cueva.

Next, José Gómez Rial, head of the Immunology Service of the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Santiago de Compostela, will talk about the vaccines of the future in a presentation moderated by Rosario Cáceres Fernández Bolaños, pharmacist at the Medicines Information Center of the College of Pharmacists of Seville .

Subsequently, four simultaneous talks will be held that will address the most frequent questions about vaccines in the fields of pediatrics, offered by Javier Álvarez Aldeán, head of Pediatrics at the Hospital Costa del Sol (Málaga), and Antonio Conejo Fernández, clinical coordinator of the Pediatrics at the Vithas Xanit Internacional Hospital in Benalmádena (Málaga); nursing, in charge of Marta Bernal, a nurse at the Las Letanías Health Center (Seville), and Alfonso Martín Quintero, coordinator of the Nursing Area of ​​Grupo IHP; family medicine, with Raquel Alfaro Greciano and Leovigildo Ginel Mendoza as speakers; and in preventive medicine, by Celia Salamanca Rivera, a specialist in preventive medicine and public health at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital.

Friday’s session will end with a very special activity in which Grupo IHP pediatricians, Auxiliadora Fernández de Alba and Ignacio Salamanca de la Cueva will demonstrate that Vaccines are a prize.

The session on Saturday June 24 will cover immunization against the main viruses, the research that is being carried out, as well as new ways of vaccinating, with a look at both the present and the future of vaccination.

In this way, the session will begin with a conference, moderated by José García Sicilia, a pediatrician and vaccine researcher, in which Francisco Javier Garrido, a pediatrician from the Clinical Management Unit (UGC) of Churriana de la Vega (Granada), will focus on Rotavirus; Lucía López Granados, pediatrician at the La Rivota de Alcorcón Health Center (Madrid), at the VPH; and Celia Salamanca Rivera in Herpes Zoster.

Next, Raúl Ortiz de Lejarazu, director emeritus and scientific advisor of the National Flu Center (Valladolid), will talk about new ways of vaccinating in a presentation moderated by Rosario Cáceres Fernández Bolaños.

Subsequently, there will be presentations on RSV, by Antonio Iofrío de Arce, pediatrician at the El Ranero Health Center (Murcia); flu, offered by Jaime Pérez Martín, president of the Spanish Vaccinology Association; pneumococcus, by the hand of Mara Garcés Sánchez, pediatrician at the Nazaret Health Center (Valencia) and member of the Vaccine Research Area of ​​the FISABIO Foundation; and meningococcus, with Belén Aguirrezabalaga, Primary Care pediatrician at the Roces-Montevil Health Center, (Gijón) and coordinator of the Vaccine Working Group (VACAP) of the Spanish Society of Out-of-hospital Pediatrics and Primary Care (SEPEAP). On this occasion, the moderator will be José Ramón de Juanes Pardo, senior preventive medicine consultant at Hospital 12 de Octubre (Madrid) and corresponding academic at the Royal National Academy of Medicine (RANM). The Conference will end with a conference entitled Vaccinating against artificial intelligence? The future and present without conspiraciesin charge of Fernando Moreno Jabato, technical leader in Ghenova Digital and bioinformático in Grupo Pediatría IBIMA.
