President Ilham Aliyev: “The New Azerbaijan Party will continue to be at the center of the processes taking place in our country.”
The New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, has made great progress over the past years and has been achieving new successes every year. On November 21 last year, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of YAP was completed. During its 30 years of activity, YAP has given great importance to reforms in addition to performing multifaceted activities. These reforms were continued in accordance with the political course determined by the Chairman of the party, the President of the country, Ilham Aliyev. In particular, the implementation of large-scale reforms after the presidential elections held in 2018 ensured the increase of Azerbaijan’s national power. At the same time, our country realizes its national goals by using its political, economic, social and diplomatic resources.
The restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and historical justice should be specially mentioned in this context. The main task is to turn the victory won on the military field into a strategic process at the political and diplomatic level. This means a more powerful Azerbaijan. The steps taken in this direction under the leadership of the head of state allow to realize the tasks ahead in the new stage.
The holding of the 7th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party on March 5, 2021 was also of great social and political importance as a part of the reform strategy. Thus, the 7th congress was remembered as an important event in the history of the party and our system of social and political relations. One more important point should be taken into account that significant and important historical events have taken place for our country since the 6th congress of the YAP held in 2018. Parliamentary and presidential elections were held in the country, there were serious changes in various spheres of social life, a new political configuration was created, Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity, etc. Of course, against the background of these realities, our country faced challenges in accordance with the requirements of the new era. Also, the holding of the 7th congress of the party was of special importance in this regard.
President of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Ilham Aliyev, during his speech at the congress, reviewed the historical development path of the New Azerbaijan Party, which was founded by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, and drew attention to the tasks ahead. It should be noted that the decisions made a year ago – at the VII Congress and the work done later allowed the fulfillment of tasks defined adequately for national interests and modern challenges. The new goals that have already been determined give their important impetus to the achievement of new victories. This also causes qualitative changes in the party’s activities, and it is appropriate to pay special attention to several points.
Thus, a more advanced form of management of the New Azerbaijan Party was determined. After the Congress, the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva was appointed the First Deputy Chairman of the Party. Of course, the establishment of the post of the first deputy in the party and the assignment of this post to the First Vice President of the country, Mehriban Aliyeva, is an important factor that serves to further strengthen the YAP and our state.
At the same time, the identification of the deputy chairman of the YAP Central Office and the appointment of Tahir Budagov to this position was an important step for improving management.
It should also be noted that the new Charter of the party was approved at the 7th congress, the composition of the Board of Directors, the Audit Commission and the Veterans’ Council were determined, the members of the Board of Directors and the Audit Commission, members of the Veterans’ Council, the chairman and the vice-chairman were elected. According to the new decisions, after the congress, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Inspection Commission of the party were elected, the numerical composition of the Youth Union was determined, and the members, Chairman and Deputy Chairman were elected. After the congress, the statutes of the party’s Veterans’ Council, Youth Union, Central Office and local organizations, and the regulations of the Inspection Commission were approved.
When talking about the importance of the 7th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party, it should be noted that the YAP achieved a new quality change in terms of its internal structure and became stronger as a political organization. At the same time, our party defined new priority goals and tasks for the future of the country, demonstrated that it will continue to play an important role in the future development of the country as a monolithic political power. Also, the approval of the new Charter has created conditions for establishing the activity in accordance with the requirements and challenges of the modern era. According to the new Charter, organizational work was carried out during the period of the 7th congress, and important decisions were made regarding personnel and structural changes.
In parallel, the 7th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party conditioned the active role of YAP in the process of political dialogue and strengthening of national unity. It is important for the development of the political system to make a decision on the joining of 6 political parties to YAP at the congress. On the other hand, it shows the positive image and social-political prestige of YAP, which makes important contributions to the political dialogue process. In general, YAP is a party that is open to cooperation and stimulates processes related to political dialogue. The meeting held on October 21, 2021 at the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party with the chairmen of the opposition parties represented in the parliament is an example of the work done in this direction.
One of the important points is the approval of the Program of the YAP Management Board, which consists of 5 chapters and reflects new realities, at the meeting on December 29, 2021. All strategic directions of political relations are covered in the new Program, political values and principles, main goals are reflected. At the same time, it is a document that defines future directions of action.
In addition to these, YAP successfully continued its international relations and cooperation during the past period of the congress, made important contributions to strengthening the positive image of Azerbaijan and conveying the realities to the international community. In addition, the close relations with the ruling Justice and Development Party of brother Turkey, as well as the continuation of useful contacts with the ruling parties of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, as well as the Chinese Communist Party and a number of other parties, are important for defining the main directions of future cooperation and contributing to the development of relations between our countries.
When considering all such successes, it can be said with certainty once again that the achievement of the tasks set by the head of state at the 7th congress of YAP held on March 5, 2021 will contribute to the development of the political system and socio-political relations, strengthening of democratic values and traditions. , gave a new impetus to the progress of our country. This is the beginning of a new stage both in the activity of the New Azerbaijan Party and in the future development of our country. There is no doubt that YAP, the party of the victorious people, will make an exceptional contribution to the sustainable and dynamic development of our country, the growth of Azerbaijan’s power, and the achievement of strategic goals by successfully fulfilling national tasks. Undoubtedly, the New Azerbaijan Party, which was founded by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and today is led by President Ilham Aliyev, will continue to be at the forefront of political processes in our country!
