Vigo hosts the national meeting ‘Provincial governments for effective equality’

The Casa de las Artes de Vigo hosted the meeting “Provincial governments for effective equality” this Thursday, the meeting of the Commission of Provincial Councils, Cabildos and Insular Councils of the FEMP promoted by the Provincial Council of Pontevedra and the Municipality of Vigo in which the representatives of the councils of Almería, A Coruña, Albacete, Badajoz, Burgos, Castellón, Huelva, Huesca, León, Lleida, Lugo, Ourense, Toledo, Jaén and Zamoraas well as the Island Council of Majorca.

The President of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, Carmela Silva, and the President of the Commission for Provincial Councils, Cabildos and Insular Councils of the FEMP and the President of the Provincial Council of Jaén, Francisco Reyes, initiated this meeting closed by mayor of Vigo and the president of the FEMP, Abel Caballero.

European Network of Women of the Scene in Equality and MEI 2022 conclusions

The FEMP summit concluded with the creation of the European network of women from the scene in equality and the presentation of the conclusions of the 1st International Meeting of Women in the Equality Scene. MEI 2022, which will take place in Huelva in 2023 and in Badajoz in 2024. “Since the creation of this Network we will pcommon proposals, so that the questions they propose are answered from the local world, since networking is essential to be able to continue to advance in equality”, assured Carmela Silva.

The network is formulated by several countries –Spain, France, Portugal, Sweden, United Kingdom and Greece– With the aim of creating a space in which European women can enhance their skills and translate them into concrete projects.

Nieves Mateo, Vice President of Classics and Moderns, highlighted among the conclusions approved in the MEI 2022 the the need to “deconsecrate” positions of responsibility in the institutions and theaters and equal demand in management positions. Co-education has also been referred to as the best tool for education in art schools. The conclusions also focused on the tutoring support by public administrationss in the field of the creation and management of companies and producers and, finally, criticism of the invisibility of women in technical trades such as crafts, tailoring or rexedoría.
