The Office of Health, Population Control and Family Planning for Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan asked the local community to remain vigilant against dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) because the area has 107 residents who have been infected with the disease.
“DHF cases are still increasing. It is hoped that the community will remain vigilant against the spread of DHF by participating in eradicating mosquito nests,” Head of the Health Resources Division at the Kapuas Hulu Health Office, Kastono, told ANTARA, at Putussibau Kapuas Hulu, Friday.
Kastono conveyed, when compared to last month the number of DHF cases in Kapuas Hulu was 85 cases, while as of September 1 2023 the number had become 107 cases spread across 15 sub-districts.
The details of the DHF cases are in Seberuang District as many as 25 cases, Putussibau Selatan 17 cases, Bunut Hulu 10 cases, Putussibau Utara 12 cases, Semitau nine cases, Empangang six cases, Batang Lupar six cases, Embaloh Hulu five cases, Pengkadan four cases. , Hulu Gurung four cases, Boyan Tanjung three cases, Kalis three cases, Silat Hilir three cases and Badau District one case.
Kastono said that several steps had been taken by the Health Service to health workers at each health center, both in handling residents who were attacked by DHF and efforts to prevent the spread of DHF.
According to him, prevention efforts include fogging or fogging to eradicate mosquito nests.
In addition to providing education and outreach to the public to care about their respective environments and participate in eradicating mosquito nests and mosquito larvae that have the potential to cause DHF.
“A number of residents who were attacked by dengue fever were treated medically and there were no fatalities,” he explained.
Even so, the public is asked to remain vigilant and immediately bring themselves and their families if there is a high fever that does not go down, because it is an indication of dengue fever.
He also invited the public to get used to adopting a clean and healthy lifestyle and preventing the spread of dengue with the 3M plus pattern, namely draining, covering and burying and sowing larvicidal powder (abate), mosquito repellent and using mosquito nets while sleeping.
“Pay attention to a number of standing water or water reservoirs that have the potential to become mosquito breeding grounds and don’t take dengue fever for granted, because you need to get medical treatment quickly,” said Kastono.
