Vigil in memory of young Hispanic murdered in North Charlotte

Charlotte, NC.- The death of young John Moralles Carrillo after being shot to rob him has shocked the Charlotte community that will join in prayer through a vigil on Friday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m.

At 15 years of age, Morales was one more victim of the violence on Sunday, May 29, when he was heading to the pool with some friends. The tragic event occurred around 5 pm on First Run Ct. and Harrisburg Rd.

As it became known, the young man was shot in the head when they were intercepted to rob him. After a few minutes he was rushed to Levine Children’s Hospital, where he sadly passed away two days later.

At this time, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not released a description of the suspect, but they are asking the community if they have any information regarding this case, they can call Crime Stopper at 704-334-1600.

Morales Carrillo, was a student at North Mecklenburg High School and dreamed of being a professional soccer player.

In his memory, a group of family, friends and colleagues will hold a vigil on Friday, June 3 at 6:30 pm, at JM Alexander Middle School (12010 Hambright Rd., Huntersville, NC, 28078). Attendees have been asked to wear a white t-shirt.
