The first semi-final received more viewers than the corresponding program last year, according to NRK. However, the state channel’s most popular weekend program is almost twice as large.
625,000 watched this year’s first Melodi Grand Prix round on Saturday, 65,000 more than the first semi-final in 2022.
The vast majority watched the program linearly: 591,000, while 34,000 took in the song competition via NRK’s app afterwards.
– This is a good start and a good warm-up. We are looking forward to the continuation, says NRK’s music manager for MGP, Stig Karlsen.
But even if it is an upturn compared to last year’s viewing figures, NRK must still see itself thoroughly beaten by Saturday’s “Hver gang vi møtes” on TV 2, which has so far been seen by 708,000.
There is no doubt that “Every time we meet” has become a strong contender for NRK on Saturdays. TV 2 states that 1,003,000 have so far seen ep 1 (Bjørn Eidsvåg), while 891,000 have so far seen ep 2 (Freddy Kalas)
“The Master of Masters” received 1.18 million viewers. This year’s season started with 1,039,000 viewers in the premiere, and surged to 1,271,000 last weekend.
