In the first episode of the season, Gordon visits Ria van Dijk, from Tilburg, among others. Ria was born in 1920 and still lives independently in a flat. Her nickname in the complex is ‘Airgun Ria’, because she sometimes wants to shoot with it.
Ria sometimes finds it hard to get older. She doesn’t like the fact that she is wearing diapers again and has to be helped with many things. “That’s terrible. That’s really bad,” she tells Gordon. That is why Ria does as many things as possible herself. For example, she doesn’t want Gordon to help her get up. “I have to keep doing that myself.”

Ria has always been single and lived with her parents. “Of course I have been in love with someone once, but if it is not answered, then that is bad,” she tells Gordon. That even led to Ria never having been intimate with anyone, much to Gordon’s surprise. “It wasn’t in me,” she says. Despite the fact that it is not always easy, she still looks at life positively. “My motto is persevere. And keep smiling.”
The viewers at home melt away with Ria. ‘What a wonderful person’, someone writes on Twitter.

It wasn’t easy for Gordon himself lately. He had to deal with blow after blow. He was raided, his catering businesses had to close due to the corona virus, for which he was tested positive for himself. Fortunately, he is now much better again. He tells about this himself in the video below.
