Vietri sul Mare, the mayor bans bonfires on August 15th

The mayor of Vietri sul Mare John De Simonewith mayoral ordinance no. 75/2024, has ordered the access to free beaches in Vietri is prohibited from 13 to 16 August from 7pm to 5am and the prohibition on lighting fires/bonfires on the Vietri beach for the entire summer period. The measure was made necessary following the events that occurred on the evening of August 10th and continued until late at night where the presence of hundreds of people on the free beaches caused social alarm so much so as to require the intervention of 118 to provide assistance to several people.

The order of the mayor Giovanni De Simone is immediately enforceable and the transgressors will face the foreseen sanctions. «TheIn situations like this, unfortunately, bad manners always take over and we have the duty to guarantee serenity to residents and to those who choose our location to spend carefree moments and stay there. – he declared – and what happened on the evening of August 10th has led us to take this drastic decision. We will not hesitate to take further action if necessary».
