Vietravel Airlines launches direct flight Phu Quoc – Taiwan (China)

Flight VU1183, with 210 passengers on board travelling for tourism and family visits, departed from Taipei Taoyuan International Airport and landed at Phu Quoc International Airport in Kien Giang Province on August 1.

Vietravel Airlines CEO Nguyen Minh Hai said it represents a crucial moment in the airline’s growth journey, opening up new opportunities for collaboration with potential partners to expand its market reach.

He noted that the Taipei-Phu Quoc route is expected to increase visitor arrivals to the island and boost local tourism development. The airline is committed to providing high-quality, safe and convenient air travel services on every flight.

Taiwan is one of the airline’s target markets for 2024. In September, it plans to launch new routes connecting the central coastal city of Da Nang and the city of Hue with Taiwan’s Taichung.

According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam received more than 8.8 million foreign tourists in the first half of 2024, an increase of 58.4 percent compared with the same period last year and 4.1 percent more than in 2019, the year before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

South Korea remained the largest source market for travellers with 2.2 million visitors, followed by China with 1.8 million and Taiwan (China) with 630 thousand.
