Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – The Vice President of Vietnam, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, granted the Labor Medal from Second class to the Norfolk Group of Australia in Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its establishment.
Speaking in the ceremony held the day before, the Deputy Head of State praised the outstanding achievements and the support of the business managers and workers of the Norfolk Group with this southern metropolis for the past 30 years.
The aforementioned distinction is an honorary award from the State and the Municipal Popular Committee, which recognizes the contributions of groups and individuals of the entity.
The Norfolk Group is one of the first companies with foreign investment in the fields of restaurants, hotels, upper-class housing in Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao district, in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, thereby strengthened its strong position in the Vietnamese market and its reputation in Australia.
Foreign investment has contributed significantly to the development of the Indochinese country, including an average contribution of 72 percent of the value of exports and 20 percent of the capital of social investment, said the leader.
In turn, Julianne Cowley, Australian consul general in this city, appreciated the work of the Norfolk Group in Australia and Vietnam, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Group is one of the founding and sponsoring members of the Chamber of Commerce of the oceanic country in the Indochinese nation (AusCham).
It has also been operating in Vietnam since 1990, when he started the Norfolk Hotel, the first international four-star hotel in the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
