The trade promotion program, held on April 21, saw the participation of representatives from German companies such as Weber & Schaer GmbH, Blickle Räder+Rollen GmbH, VLK EuropeConsult GmbH, GLB Germany GmbH and 15 rubber exporters from Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh highlighted the vigorous development of relations between the two countries in all fields, especially since the establishment of their strategic partnership. Germany is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner in the European Union (EU) and Vietnam is Germany’s largest trading partner in Southeast Asia.

The Vietnamese diplomat expressed the wish that companies would take advantage of opportunities to conquer the German market, which is very demanding but has great potential.

According to Huynh Van Bao, vice president of the Rubber Association of Vietnam, the Vietnamese rubber industry, rubber enterprises in particular, have achieved positive results in recent years.

Domestic rubber exports, including natural rubber, rubber products and rubberwood, reached around USD 10.4 billion in 2022, up 9.1% year-on-year.

The world’s third largest rubber exporter

This year, Vietnam’s rubber industry is aiming for an export turnover of 11.1 billion USD, up 7.6 percent from 2022.

Rubber companies should therefore study EU technical standards carefully. For example, regulations on CE marking, product safety, labelling, packaging and above all corporate social responsibility.

At the event, Vietnamese and German companies had hands-on discussions on the import needs of rubber and rubber products.

Tobias Boysen, Sales Manager of Weber & Schaer GmbH & Co.KG, spoke highly of the quality of rubber products from Vietnam and the achievement by many Vietnamese companies of international certifications on sustainable logging such as FSC and PEFC .

Weber & Schaer Group said it would increase imports of natural rubber, latex and rubber products from Vietnam.

Martin Sülzle, head of the import department of the Blickle Räder & Rollen Group, which has branches in 120 countries around the world, announced that his group needed to import rubber products and planned to cooperate with Vietnam in a near future.
