Hanoi (VNA) – A documentary
about the Vietnamese music of the French filmmaker François Bibonne constitutes a
of the winning works of the Award of the Film Critics Association of
Los Angeles (LAFA).
The 30-minute film,
titled “Once upon a time a bridge in Vietnam”, won the award for Best
Documentary Short Film last January.
The concept of the documentary is to help the
french director to discover his roots, since his grandmother is Vietnamese.
“Through the passion for music
classic, I discovered my grandmother’s country. I was very close to my grandmother.
When she passed away, I wanted to discover Vietnam through that kind of music.
The bridge is the symbol of the documentary and the connection between Vietnam and the world,
through music, not only classical music, but also traditional
Vietnamese, ” said the director in the trailer of the film.
The film also marks the beginning of
a long-term project that includes other documentaries about music
traditional in different regions of Vietnam, revealed the young director, and
he expressed hope to produce the next film this year about music
in the provinces of the Western Highlands, Thua Thien-Hue and Ho Chi Town
Minh.
Similarly, in the list of
LAFA winners last January, there is the music video “Dead of The Night”
by Australian artist of Vietnamese origin Minh Huynh, also known as
Minhy. The short clip won the award for Best Music Video./.
