Vietnamese media highlights Indonesia’s success in attracting Mees Hilgers & Eliano Reijnders

Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders being the two new bloodline players introduced Indonesia national team. Vietnamese media picked it up.

Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders have officially become Indonesian Citizens (WNI). Both have taken the oath in Belgium.

The arrival of the two Eredivisie players was immediately highlighted by Vietnamese media. Thanh Nien discusses Indonesia’s success in re-importing key players.

On September 30, Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders officially became Indonesian citizens. “These two players will help coach Shin Tae-yong get more quality options for the Indonesian team,” wrote Thanh Nien.

Thanh Nien also spoke about the performance of Mees Hilgers. Vietnamese media discussed when the 23-year-old helped Twente hold Manchester United to a draw in the Europa League.

“Hilgers born in 2001 in the Netherlands, plays as a central defender and has a height of 1.85 meters. He played for the Netherlands U-21 and FC Twente, who played in the national championship. “In September, he played 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford, in the 2024/2025 Europa League season,” wrote Thanh Nien.

At the same time, Eliano Reijnders is a player who plays on the wing. He plays at PEC Zwolle, and his younger brother is AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who previously chose to play for the Netherlands rather than Indonesia.

If there are no obstacles, Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders can be played directly by the Indonesian National Team. Both of them could be involved in the matches against Bahrain and China in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian Zone this month.
