HANOI, iNews.id – Vietnam is rumored to be imitating the way Indonesian National team in building a team after failing to advance to the final AFF Cup 2020. Coach Park Hang-seo reportedly held a meeting with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to discuss this plan.
Quoted from The Thao, Park Hang-seo suggested that Vietnam follow the way Indonesia recruited star players from outside their domestic league. This is an effort to strengthen the squad going forward.
“Coach Park also stressed the importance of calling overseas Vietnamese stars who played overseas,” reads The Thao, quoted Monday (3/1/2022).
Not only local players who play abroad. The plan is that Vietnam will call players of European descent, where this method has often been done by Indonesia.
It has been noted that so far, Vietnam has very rarely collected their descendants from abroad. Most of their players are also the descendants of the local community.
