Two Apple suppliers in Vietnam have been forced to temporarily close their factories due to a spate of COVID-19 cases.
The Vietnamese government has ordered the closure of four industrial zones, leading to a freeze on production at the Foxconn and Luxshare factories that work on Apple products. The temporary closure is linked to the increase in infections affecting the northern Bac Giang region of Vietnam, where more than a third of all cases in the country are recorded.
The government affirms that it is already working to send health officials and help companies reorganize to resume production as quickly as possible.
In Vietnam, Foxconn manufactures iPads and MacBooks, while Luxshare manufactures components for various Apple products. The situation seems under control and there should be no delay in the production of the devices concerned.
