Vietnam ready to protect its citizens in Afghanistan

The Foreign Ministry has instructed the Vietnamese Embassy in Pakistan and Afghanistan to closely monitor the situation in Afghanistan in the midst of a chaotic new chapter and to take measures to protect citizens if necessary.

The Foreign Ministry said on Sunday (15th) that it has asked the Vietnamese embassy in Pakistan and Afghanistan to apprehend the situation of Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working in Afghanistan, to make plans and to stand ready to deploy measures to protect citizens if necessary.

In recent days, the embassy has proactively implemented measures to protect citizens, in particular the publication on its website of a notice relating to the protection of citizens, the exchange with the contact points in Afghanistan to ask for their support. seeking information on the situation of Vietnamese nationals in this country.

The embassy has not yet identified any presence of Vietnamese citizens in Afghanistan. Earlier, she coordinated to safely repatriate a Vietnamese citizen who worked for a United Nations agency in Afghanistan.
