Vietnam is consistent with the goal of green energy development

(PLO)- Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An said that Vietnam is always aware of the importance and is consistent with the goal of developing green energy, renewable energy and new energy.

This is information mentioned by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An at the international consultation conference on the national electricity development planning period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 (Power planning VIII).

The conference was organized with the participation of more than 60 domestic and international delegates. Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang An emphasized that, in recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has urgently developed and completed the draft Power Plan VIII.

According to Deputy Minister Dang Hoang An, Vietnam is steadfast in its goal of green and sustainable development, thus prioritizing the development of clean and green energy sources such as renewable energy (solar, wind), new energy (Ammonia, etc.) Hydrogen)…; reduce power sources using fossil fuels such as coal, gas, etc.

Commenting on capital sources, Ms. Chiaria Odetta Rogate, senior energy expert of the World Bank (WB), recommended that Vietnam’s demand for resources for power source and grid development is very large. Power transmission issues need to meet technical, commercial and safety requirements. Therefore, the WB suggested that Vietnam should improve the domestic and international investment environment to be able to access loans.

Mr. Keiju Mitsuhashi, Deputy Country Director, Asian Development Bank said that the energy transition should be done at the lowest cost for the economy and people. Vietnam’s solar and wind pricing policies have encouraged large volumes of investment from the private sector and allowed the solar and wind market to develop very rapidly.

However, that comes with a high cost. To address this, ADB welcomes the government’s decision to establish a procurement mechanism for next-generation projects. ADB has been supporting the Ministry of Industry and Trade in preparing this procurement mechanism and is ready to continue supporting the Ministry of Industry and Trade and provincial governments in implementing auction projects and developing relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

At the conference, many representatives of international organizations also suggested that Vietnam soon approve the Electricity Master Plan VIII to attract investment in electricity production to serve the economy. At the same time, it is recommended to develop a plan for implementation soon after the Master Plan is approved.

Deputy Minister Dang Hoang An said that Vietnam is always aware of the importance and is consistent with the goal of developing green energy, renewable energy and new energy; do not develop new coal-fired power plants except those from the old planning.

In particular, the development of energy ensures harmonization of interests for the State, investors and people, and ensures social security. Vietnam has specific and clear strategies with detailed roadmaps and is making efforts to implement this process.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is also presiding over the development of an action plan right after Planning VIII is approved; At the same time, amending and supplementing a number of relevant Laws to synchronize in the implementation process.
