(PLO)- To express the solidarity of the Vietnamese people with the Syrian people, the Government and people of Vietnam have given the Syrian people a total amount of support to date of 900,000 USD.
On the afternoon of December 13, 2023, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had a phone call with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Citizens of the Syrian Arab Republic Faisal Al-Mikdad. Also attending was President of the Central Vietnam Red Cross Association Bui Thi Hoa.
Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed Vietnam always values and wishes to further deepen the traditional friendship and cooperation with Syria; The Government and people of Vietnam always remember and appreciate the valuable help the Syrian people gave to Vietnam in the struggle to unify the country in the past and build the country today.
To express the solidarity of the Vietnamese people with the Syrian people in the face of great losses caused by the February 2023 earthquake in Northern Syria, Minister Bui Thanh Son informed the Central Red Cross Vietnam will continue to transfer the third round of support worth 600,000 USD to the Syrian people, bringing the total amount of support from the Government and people of Vietnam to the Syrian people to date to 900,000 USD.
Minister Faisal Al-Mikdad thanked the timely and compassionate support of the Government and people of Vietnam; Emphasizing that leaders at all levels and the people of Syria attach great importance to relations with Vietnam, expressing their impression of the socio-economic development achievements that Vietnam has achieved recently.
The Minister affirmed that Syria always supports and wishes to learn from Vietnam’s experience in national development and international integration.
The two Ministers discussed and agreed on directions to promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time in the fields of politics, diplomacy, and economics; coordinate and support each other at multilateral organizations such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement…
On this occasion, Minister Bui Thanh Son invited Minister Faisal Al-Mikdad to visit Vietnam soon at a suitable time. Minister Faisal Al-Mikdad happily accepted the invitation, believing that the visit will create new developments in relations between the two countries.
