Vietnam and Australia strengthen education development

Continuing activities as part of his official visit to Australia, the President of the National Assembly (NA), Vuong Dinh Huê, met on Thursday 1is December Education Secretary Jason Clare and Opposition House and Senate Leaders Peter Dutton and Simon Birmingham.

During his meeting with Australian Minister Jason Clare, Vuong Dinh Huê stressed the importance of cooperation on education and training in Vietnam-Australia relations, expressing the wish that the Australian side would share its experience on autonomy and university governance, business-university connection, entrepreneurship and innovation.

With more than 30,000 Vietnamese students in Australia, educational cooperation not only contributes to the development of Vietnam’s human resources and Australian economy, but also contributes to the promotion of cultural ties and friendship between the two nations, he said.

Minister Jason Clare said he looked forward to a visit to Vietnam in 2023 to discuss cooperation in the education sector, especially in general and higher education, and student exchanges between the two countries.

He expressed his confidence in the great opportunities for cooperation in education and training between the two countries.

The two sides believe that the Vietnam-Australia Education Cooperation Forum on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Australia should further strengthen bilateral cooperation in education, especially higher education.

During the meeting with the leaders of the opposition in the House of Representatives and the Senate, Peter Dutton and Simon Birmingham, the president of NA, Vuong Dinh Huê, reiterated Vietnam’s constant policy of attaching great importance to comprehensive relations with the Australia at all levels and channels.

He was pleased to see that all Australian political parties support strengthening ties with Vietnam for the benefit of both peoples and for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Australia’s parliamentary leaders said their country always attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Vietnam and supports raising bilateral relations to a new level.

They agreed to coordinate with Vietnam’s partner agencies to strengthen cooperation in specific areas, including exchanging delegations and expanding cooperation in various forms between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Australian political parties, promoting the implementation of the signed documents on both sides and strengthening cooperation in response to climate change, green growth, energy transformation, digital transformation and the digital economy

The two sides also discussed international issues and stressed the central role of ASEAN. They reiterated that disputes, including those in the Eastern Sea, should be resolved through peaceful measures in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

NA President Vuong Dinh Huê took the opportunity to invite Peter Dutton and Simon Birmingham to visit Vietnam as soon as possible.
