A couple recently in love – Sabine and Reinis are enjoying their time together until they are unexpectedly interrupted by Sabine’s mother. The meeting turns into a tragicomic lunch where no one eats, and the mother throws her daughter out of the house. Reinis, overwhelmed by feelings of love, saves the young woman and recklessly offers to stay together in his dead aunt’s apartment.

From falling in love, the life of the young couple quickly turns into domestic life. Sabine’s loneliness leads her to emotions in which the apartment, Reinis and all other conditions seem to understand her, even the rain. Furious, Sabine tries to hurt Reina and check if he is really ready for a relationship.

“Vietāms sūrps lytus” will be my first full-length feature film, which I made after graduating from the directing course of the Latvian Academy of Culture. This film is my application to the family of Latvian cinema directors and I want to introduce myself by talking about what I think is important, which is human relations. I see how people around us are increasingly weaning themselves from difficulties, especially difficulties that are invisible and intangible. The determination to see yourself and be able to change is the theme of this film, which unfolds through a young woman’s view of the world, where her fantasies collide with her partner’s reality. The passion and love that brings young people together sooner or later leads to a moment where you have to decide – to remain childish or to grow up and continue life without becoming victims of the situation.
